Caracas 02 de marzo 2008. - El presidente de la República, Hugo Chávez, ordenó este domingo durante la transmisión de su programa Aló, Presidente Nº 306, cerrar la embajada de Venezuela en Bogotá y sacar a todos los funcionarios de Colombia.
El jefe de Estado también giró órdenes al ministro del Poder Popular para la Defensa, Gustavo Rangel Briceño, enviar 10 batallones a la frontera colombo-venezolanas. Asimismo, el mandatario nacional informó que su gobierno no asistirá a la cumbre de Unasur que se tiene previsto se haga en suelo colombiano.
Chávez, calificó este domingo como "cobarde asesinato" la muerte del comandante de las Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (FARC), Raúl reyes a manos del Ejército de Colombia la madrugada de este sábado.
"No fue ningun combate fue un combarde asesinato (...) Todo fríamente calculado. Las verdades van aflorando", dijo.
Raúl Reyes murió "masacrado" en un bombardeo aéreo sorpresivo de Colombia junto a varios de sus guerrilleros mientras dormía en un campamento improvisado ubicado a dos kilómetros dentro del territorio de Ecuador, según denunció el presidente de ese país, Rafael Correa.
